Elder Scrolls Online: 13 Key Tips To Keeping Us All Playing
2. Offer A Free Version
It would be foolish not to offer a trial period or free but limited version of the game. Other MMOs in the market already have the monopoly of the numbers but they also give aspiring players the opportunity to try out the game first without having to pay to make sure they would be content with paying a subscription. Currently, after purchasing TESO, you are given 30 days of non-subscription playtime where you can do whatever you want, wherever you want in the game. However this requires you to actually purchase the full game first, which will obviously still lead to a dent in your pocket. Obviously this isn't possible when buying the physical copy of the game, but certainly with the digital a free trial of the game should be given to download on both the PC/Mac platforms and the upcoming PS4/Xbox One platforms. In terms of limitation, a level cap could be given to the characters they create under trial conditions to around level 15 as well as a limit to the areas that are explorable. Perhaps the starting area could be the only area where players would be able to roam freely and should they want to explore the world at hand beyond the vast mountains, they could easily upgrade their 'free trial account' to a 'paid account' by purchasing the game and then going on to paying the monthly subscription, which leads very smoothly onto the final top tip for Bethesda...
