Eli Roth Is Directing The Borderlands Movie

Randy Pitchford confirmed the news in a now-deleted tweet.

In a now deleted tweet, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford revealed that Eli Roth will be directing the upcoming Borderlands movie. The project itself was actually announced all the way back in 2015, and it seems to have finally found a director.

Roth is mostly known for his 2000s jock-horror films, including Cabin Fever and Hostel. He's an interesting pick to helm the adaptation, then, as you'd assume the Borderlands movie would be far more in-line with the action-orientated nature of the games. Still, Roth knows how to blend humour with extreme violence, and that could put him in good stead for this project.

Why the tweet was deleted remains unclear, but it could simply be because Randy jumped the gun accidentally on the announcement. The company has a panel at PAX East next week, so expect to hear more information, and no doubt an official confirmation, then.
