Capcom sure loved creating hybrids of the Resident Evil formula back in the day. This title took the angle of blending the gameplay and structure with a Samurai-era Japan, full of dark fantasy creatures.
It led to a cracking good twist on the formula; wicked sword combat against monstrous foes, a heavy and dark atmosphere, plus some mind-twisting environment puzzles.
It started a franchise in its own right, but this first entry is the best and most deserving of a remaster, as it was straightforward with a meaty campaign - and thankfully devoid of the nonsense of the later entries.
If you enjoyed the Resident Evil Remake, this is a must-grab. Hopeful it sells enough so this sadly forgotten franchise can make a glorious return soon...
