Every Yakuza Game Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Judgment (2018)
Judgment is a spin-off game set in Kamurocho, where players are put in the shoes of private investigator Takayuki Yagami. Though the core loop remains, the title also features detective elements to set itself aside from the mainline entries.
Yagami has two fighting styles, Tiger and Crane, which are used for duels and multiple enemies respectively. Combat on the Dragon Engine has also been polished to the point where Yagami can effortlessly glide across the battleground. Aside from that, the game features one of the darkest stories RGG Studio has ever written, with Yagami investigating a series of grisly murders.
But it's not all positive as the tailing system can be tedious at certain levels, while the investigation mechanic is too barebones. At the same time, these new features are distinct but aren't too well executed to set the game apart from the Yakuza games.
Still, Judgment's few hiccups don't stop it from being one of the stronger entries the series has to offer in recent times. With a gripping story, new characters and excellent combat, this spin-off is worth the time.
