Nuka Cola was the most popular drink in the world by far before the war. They achieved this by sabotaging the production lines of competitors like Vim! Pop Incorporated and rebranding existing soda brands into Nuka Cola variants. Examples include Nuka Cherry (originally Merle's Very Cherry Soda), and Nuka-Grape (originally Grape Pearl Soda).

But they weren't just hurting their competitors, they also directly harmed their consumers. A single bottle of Nuka Cola contained around 120% of your daily recommended allowance of sugar. The drinks were marketed heavily towards children and almost certainly lead to a great deal of tooth decay and some consumers even report addiction.

The horrors don't stop there though. While developing Nuka Cola Quantum the company was trying to find a radioactive isotope safe for human consumption and during the testing phase dozens of people were killed by radiation exposure.

Unfortunately, we never get to see the long-term health risks of Nuka Cola Quantum as it was released to the public at the same time the bombs dropped, making it an extremely rare find in the wasteland.
