Fallout: 10 Most Evil Things That Can Happen

Enslavement, genocide, and that's just one of the games.

As you can probably imagine, maintaining virtuous ethics in a world where society has been devastated by total nuclear apocalypse wouldn't come above survival in terms of priorities.

Ever since gamers were first transported to the dystopian alternate history-inspired future of 1997's Fallout, the series' variety of moral quandaries, the 1950s aesthetic, and examples of dark humour at every turn have made many a player fall in love with the franchise overall.

A sequel one year later would follow with even more features that would become hallmarks of the series, before everything went quiet on the Fallout front. Luckily, Bethesda revived everything in the mid-2000s, producing even more enjoyable titles as the focus began to shift away from its role-playing routes.

Which is a crying shame, because at the core, this is what makes Fallout brilliant. The ability to decide whether you will attempt to help those you come across, or take control of the lawless wastes as a harbinger of destruction and depravity.

However, even for those players who like to stray towards the evil side of things, sometimes Fallout goes too far.

8. Arcade Gannon - Fallout: New Vegas

If you've played Fallout: New Vegas you'll likely already be aware of Caeser's Legion, a group of quasi-Roman fascists intent on taking over the Mojave by force and enslaving all those that fall afoul of their draconian ethical standards.

Caeser's Legion could have a list of their own with all of the depraved acts they commit, particularly the massacre and crucifixions at Nipton that the Courier witnesses.

If the player embarks on a playthrough while siding with the Legion, they are tasked with saving the group's leader and namesake from certain death after he slips into a coma.

While there several ways to do this, the one that makes it on to this list is the option to sell Follower's of the Apocalypse doctor Arcade Gannon into slavery to serve as Ceaser's personal physician.

If the player then goes on to complete the main questline siding with the nefarious Legion, they will be informed in the credits that after several years suffering in slavery, Gannon committed suicide by disembowelling himself with a surgical scalpel.
