Fallout 4: 10 Specific Things We Can't Wait To See Improved

1. A Truly Great Story Progression

For the most part, the past two Fallout stories have consisted of trekking across huge expanses of the Wasteland, only to be told the item or person you were after has moved, and then to rinse-repeat. Hopefully the new story is going to revolve quite considerably around a key batch of characters and their interweaving plot lines, which depending on where you sit on Fallout 4's slightly strange-looking face-tech, you might disagree. This general notion of a voiced protagonist is already dividing the Fallout faithful, as plenty of hardcore fans literally only want an experience where you play as a mute explorer, interacting with the denizens of the world in what feels like a very one-sided way. That said, if voicing your character makes for all sorts of more intense scenarios, character exchanges or morally grey decisions you get to weigh in on, it's simply far more effective and memorable to have your hero wade in with their own voiced opinions. Coupled with a decent script and reason to travel from place to place (doing meaningful things in each settlement you come across with people you'll remember and care about), the overall level of immersion and interactivity should make for a story that's one for the ages. Bethesda are knocking every other aspect of their games out the park, so why not a solid main story that sets you up perfectly for continued exploration?
