Fallout 4: 5 Brand New Details You Need To Know About
3. Three-Dog Won't Be In The Game
Galaxy News Radio DJ Three-Dog (voiced by Erik Todd Dellums) was, in many ways, the voice of Fallout 3. His croakey, passionate voice kept the player abreast on happenings in the DC Wasteland, and called on region's residents to "fight the good fight" against the Enclave, Raiders, and other malign forces of the wasteland. Dellums was actually one of the first people to tease the existence of Fallout 4 back in January 2013, when he tweeted that "There may be more of the Dog coming!" It seemed like a double-whammy of juicy news - one confirming that a new Fallout was on the way, and the other that the much-loved Three-Dog would be making a return. But in early September, Bethesda tweeted that dialogue for Fallout 4 had now been completed (with over 111,000 unique lines). Presumably Dellums heard this news, because he tweeted soon after:
"I admit, the finality of this tweet felt like a gut punch. "Sad to not be included. Best with the game." "The bottom line: Fallout fans are the best. Wanted to be a part of Fallout 4 for them. Love their energy, loyalty and kindness. Fun fact: I auditioned for no less than 7 roles in Fallout 3. Can only wonder why no audition for #4? Bewildered."
Dellums' heart-rending disappointment at his exclusion will no doubt be shared by plenty of fans of his character, but ultimately if Three-Dog doesn't belong in the Fallout 4 story then no amount of fan sentimentality will make him appear in it. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see an ill-fated change.org petition calling for Three Dog's re-instatement to pop up soon...
