Fallout 4 Settlements: 14 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

9. There's An Empty Island You Can Practice/Build On

Despite Fallout 4 starting you out in the safe haven of Sanctuary, thanks to all the scrap that needs to be cleared up and the fact there's all sorts of structures in your way, it might seem a little daunting - so why not head to Spectacle Island instead? It's an (almost) completely blank canvas with far more space to roam around in. You first have to trip the circuit breaker switch inside the boat that's marooned on the south side - and be sure to grab the nearby Fat Man to nuke the emerging Mirelurk Queen that appears to defend the place - before turning on the radio beacon back on the opposing side, as it's well worth the effort to get an island to call your own. Defences are paramount thanks to the onset of Mirelurk attacks you'll have to withstand, so put up a string of turrets and you'll be good to start experimenting with everything the mode has to offer.
