9. More Rewarding Exploration

Although the Fallout series has always succeeded in providing players with stories and unique items to discover on their wasteland adventures, recent franchise entries have been much more concerned with populating their worlds with samey crafting items and repetitive enemy encounters.

Environmental stories and hidden narratives are still there to be found, but the game's focus on crafting weapons and armour has lessened the opportunity to find memorable items or interesting loot in the game's darkest dungeons.

Which is a shame, because previously you'd be compelled to search every single location the series threw your way. But now that incentive is no longer there, and Bethesda needs to give players a reason to continue exploring, maintaining the quality of its environmental storytelling while providing tangible and varied rewards to find in its massive open worlds.
