Fallout 76 Review: 4 Ups & 7 Downs
1. The Solid Voice Acting
Yes, it sucks that the overwhelming majority of the game's lore is dumped by way of holotapes and such, but to Bethesda's mild credit, the voice acting on offer in these tapes is surprisingly up to their usual brilliant standard.
The game has decidedly less dialogue in it than a typical Fallout title, but what's there is at least compellingly delivered, to the extent that it makes the otherwise forgettable story mildly more memorable.
It still feels like a step down from what fans expect from Bethesda, but there are mercifully few instances of wonky performance or direction: it's all sharply acted and totally believable as a result.
