Fallout: Ranking Every Vault From Least To Most Horrifying

25. Vault 3 - Water Leaks And Massacres

Fallout Vault 112
Bethesda

Found in the Mohave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas, Vault 3 is perhaps quite tame by Fallout vault standards.

Vault 3 was considered a 'control' vault. That basically means that it was a normal vault, made for the purpose it was actually stated to its inhabitants. There were no planned experiments and Vault 3 acts exactly like it should, as a nuclear fallout shelter.

Even so, the fate of Vault 3 is still not particularly pleasant. Sometime in the 23rd century the vault had a massive water leak, effectively cutting off the inhabitants from a significant portion of the Vault and also damaging a large stockpile of supplies.

This forced the inhabitants to open the doors of the Vault and begin trading with the outside world. Just a few weeks later, the local bunch of crazies known as The Fiends cottoned on that there was a lovely hideout just waiting for them for the taking, stormed the place, and brutally murdered all of the original inhabitants before claiming it for their own and using it as a prison. Lovely.
