Far Cry 5 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

5. Guns For Hire Are Awesome

One of the biggest gameplay additions that Far Cry 5 introduces is the Guns For Hire system. It's pretty awesome.

Guns For Hire feels like a natural evolution of a similar system in Far Cry 2 combined with Primal's animal taming ability. The Guns for Hire all have unique attributes and abilities that makes them best for certain situation.

Whilst some of them are fairly bland, you also have characters with great personalities and abilities like the pilot Nick Rye or the Far Cry veteran Hurk, who carries around a personal rocket launcher.

Of course, the best of the Guns for Hire are the animals. Peaches the cougar and Boomer the dog are both excellent for stealth, whilst Cheeseburger the bear is great when you just want to rush a outpost and kill everybody. You can also pet all of them, as you'd expect.

The Guns for Hire are all varied enough that choosing which one to use is actually quite difficult. This is an excellent system that will hopefully stick around.
