As a long term cultivator of all things FIFA; I, like many, am anticipating this Autumns release of the series latest instalment with quite some excitement. Although the temptation to try and snare Lionel Messi from Barcelona to come to Real Madrid can overcome you; the key to success in manager mode is to buy the right players for the football you play and the weak areas of the team. Most people treat pre-season friendlies as a thing you have to get through, but they are very helpful in showing which players unhinge what youre trying to do or just arent good enough. If that means you need to buy a 70 million pound striker, go for it, but more often than not its other areas that need fixing and doing that helps you ease through manager mode. What happens if you dont do this: You will get to the third match of the season before you realise the unfashionable defensive midfielder may have been a better purchase.
