7. Skill Games
EA Sports' decision to bring in a whole new system for learning skills is a major boost for this year's game. The Skill Games mode is an ingenious way to bring an entertainment factor into what amounts to simple tutorials, with very specific opportunities to develop the necessary skills to really master the game. FIFA 13 is a game set up for the player to really immerse themselves in learning how to play, adding in a steeper learning curve but balancing that with entertainment and rewarding players who stick with the learning process through to the end. The skill games themselves feel professionally designed as well, designed to hone skills as well as develop them from the ground-level up, so players can learn simple things like dribbling, and develop their shooting and passing accuracy. Stick with it and EA Sports are effectively giving you an Idiot's Guide to beating the game, and to developing your skills before heading out into the big bad world of online play. And most importantly of all, the game does it all without compromising the engagement factor, bringing in a points system to encourage repeated play against particular Skill Games and never letting the player get bored despite the functional nature of the mode. http://youtu.be/VgpRgRj3nlY
