4. The AI Is Appalling
We found FIFA 14 to have been an otherwise enjoyable experience. That being said, however, for all the things EA did well, they also got one or two things wrong too. The first of which was the AI, which seems dumber than ever before. Teammates seem to stray offside far more frequently, and even bump into each other when trying to intercept a pass, leading to the ball spiralling off their knees and out for a throw-in. Opposition defenders also seem less intelligent, and occasionally provide the player with easy goal-scoring opportunities just by allowing themselves to be so easily dispossessed of the ball. Players also seem to hold possession for inordinate amounts of time without doing anything or going anywhere, while you also get the feeling of little to no urgency while playing.
