4. Real Match Day Animations
...Real Match Day Animations. Again, it sounds like a load of waffle fallen from the mouth of some gaming exec, but it's actually a brilliant new feature that solidly improves the cinematics in FIFA 14. In previous iterations of FIFA down the years, when the ball goes out for a corner, for example, a quick cut-scene would magically transport the ball to the corner flag for the player to take their set-piece. Now, however, animations will show the player picking up the ball and walking it to the corner flag, or running to take the corner if time is ticking down and his side are losing. There are more subtle, yet game-enhancing cut-scenes, too, such as the crowd bouncing the ball down the stands and back onto the pitch if you skewer your shot into row Q. There's even ball boys scampering up and down the touchline to return the ball to play, for that added touch of realism. And before you ask, no, the ball boys cannot be assaulted. Sorry, Eden Hazard. Little touches like this on the next generation version of FIFA 14 may not be game changers, but they do bring the week-to-week travails of match days to your system, something current gen versions aren't doing.
