3. Online
The major selling point for FIFA 14 has to be its raft of excellent online modes. From the addictive Ultimate Team to the frantic madness of Pro Clubs, there really is something for every fan looking to enter the online pitch. The new Legends Mode (exclusive to Xbox 360) looks set to be the next big thing for FIFA, so expect EA to really extend that come this time next year. Joining games is easy and fun, and creating lobbies takes seconds. It really is a streamlined experience that EA should be proud of. Ignoring the ridiculous "buy your way to the top" aspect of Ultimate Team, there is still plenty of fun to be had building a squad from packs. A weak point for PES in the last few years, due to technical issues and connectivity problems with lag cheats, Konami has started to address these issues with PES 2014, and the results are a lot better than last year. Konami place a heavy emphasis on regular patches to tweak the gameplay based on feedback, and even though the community is small compared to FIFA's, there is incredible fun to be had in Master League Online, a game mode that could potentially be better than Ultimate Team. All things considered, PES 2014's online features are rather basic compared to FIFA 14's, so it's probably a stretch to expect FIFA fans to be converted this year. Ultimate Team, like Call of Duty's Zombies, is a game seller all by itself.
