FIFA 15: 10 New Premier League Transfers Who Should Be Rated Highest
7. Filipe Luis 82 (FIFA 14 82)
The sale of David Luiz and the acquisition of Filipe Luis was a superb bit of business by Chelsea. Not only did this swap of Brazilian defenders generate the money to buy Chelseas rather more highly anticipated signing from Atletico Madrid (who will be discussed later) but the left back is generally a far better defender than the centre back. Where David Luiz is careless and needlessly risky, Chelseas replacement for Ashley Cole is a reliable defender with a phenomenal work rate. Filipe Luis success both attacking and defending along the left flank last season was a huge factor in Atletico Madrids Romantic victory of the league title against the seemingly undefeatable giants of La Liga. Atletico conceded just 26 goals in 38 league games en route to winning the title; this was thanks to the heroics of Luis and his fellow defenders. It came as a great surprise that the Brazilian wasnt called up to represent his nation in the World Cup. The addition of Luis to Chelseas already solid defensive line will make José Mourinhos side incredibly hard to penetrate next season. With Luis, Terry, Cahill and Azpilicueta at the back and the superb Thibaut Courtois playing keeper, goals against Chelsea will be a rare commodity.
