FIFA 15 Ultimate Team: 10 Legends Who Were Criminally Overlooked

9. Roberto Baggio

Suggested Rating €“ 89 With Germany€™s World Cup dominance in 2014 primarily being the result of the versatility of their best players like Müller, Lahm and Schweinsteiger, it seemed likely that FIFA 15 would feature one of the great elusive players in Roberto Baggio. Generally remembered as one of Italy€™s greatest ever talents, Baggio had too much playmaking skill to be a traditional number 9 but too much goal scoring ability to be a number 10. This led Juventus great Michel Platini to describe Baggio as a "fantastic 9 and a half€. During his long career Baggio played in a host of positions, ranging from out-and-out striker to deep-lying playmaker. This versatility would make the Italian an extremely potent player on FIFA, with the ability to pick out the killer pass or score a sublime goal. In the 1990s when the Italian league was characterised by its intense physicality, Baggio was the shining ray of light whose explosive acceleration, technical skill and positioning made him a joy to watch. It was primarily Baggio€™s excellence which saw Italy come frustratingly close to raising the World Cup in both 1990 and 1994. Italians are well represented on FIFA€™s list of Legends with the likes of Maldini, Cannavaro and Zola making the cut; this makes it all the more surprising that one of the greatest footballers to have come out of Europe€™s boot hasn€™t been represented.
