FIFA 18: 5 New Career Mode Additions You Need To Know

4. Player Meetings

Modern footballers are big heads. There, we said it. If you spend every waking moment being told how brilliant you are for kicking a ball around, we suppose it makes sense that you'd become a little aloof. Money has taken over football, but so has the notion that actual players themselves call the shots.

FIFA 18's Career Mode now offers up the ability to meet with individual players and discuss their careers. This is an improvement over the old 'player emotion' feature that has been clumsy since day one. It was so frustrating in 17 to occasionally hear that your multi-million pound striker felt unsettled despite playing out of his skin and scoring goals aplenty.

Beforehand, players acted like spoiled brats for no reason and gamers had little control over what to do about it. Meeting face-to-face is much more logical, and it should add a human touch to a feature that once boiled down to taking unhappy players out of the match day squad until they'd reconsidered.

Being able to meet individuals and talk things out is a step forward.
