Yep, it's finally happening, Lionel Messi's star is fading.

Messi had a great campaign with Barcelona; playing 36 games and scoring 34 goals. That's an incredible record, no doubt about it, and only three goals less than the year before. However the Argentinian legend is 31 years old and, as we saw with Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Juventus, all good things must come to an end.

Messi has always performed mind-meltingly good for Barcelona but conversely always disappointed for Argentina. None more recent than Messi's 2018 World Cup run, which was forgettable at best.

Messi has never proven himself in another league and his international disappointments lead to theories that he wouldn't be successful at another club. Factor in more impressive current players like Mohammed Salah and Kylian Mbappe, and Messi's status as the world's greatest player is surely dimming.

For as long as I can recall, Messi has been rated over 90 in FIFA. In 2019's instalment, his rating should still be around 89/90 but definitely no higher.
