Nowadays, Michel Platini is under severe scrutiny due to allegations made about his time working for UEFA and FIFA – as in, the real-life Fédération Internationale de Football Association rather than your gaming favourite – but there is absolutely zero disputing just what a marvellous footballer the former France skipper was.

Whether it was for the French national team, Juventus, or even his spells at Nancy and Saint-Étienne, Platini was the go-to star of the show for whomever he played for. To describe it in the most basic of ways, Platini was that stupidly talented player that you just always gave the ball to and he’d do the rest. Think of schoolyard football, just on the professional and international stage.

As stylish as they come, Platini just made the game look effortless as his glided past players and pinged in free kicks with ease. On his day, Platini would keep the ball for as long as he wanted to – regardless of how many of the opposition were taking a swing at his kneecaps.

His time working in the administrative side of football may be covered in controversy, but Michel Platini's addition to Ultimate Team seems a no-brainer.
