... because they've executed it really, really, really badly. Here are some of the early player reviews:

Cameron, gives us this insight: "PASSING! Absolutely none of my passes go anywhere near where I’m intending, everything gets intercepted and it’s ruining the game."

Crosses, for example, will look as if they're going to fly out of play but then suddenly drop out of the sky. Bounces feel inconsistent and make it hard to judge how best to receive them. Relatively light tackles will occasionally send the ball flying off, while sliding in with force can feel like it's barely touched the thing at all.

No doubt there will be updates to fine tune this, but until then it's going to drive people mad.
