FIFA 21: 10 Reasons To Be Worried
3. Licensing Cracks
Last year, EA looked a bit foolish when Konami swooped in and inked an exclusive deal with Serie A giants Juventus. Suddenly, FIFA 20 couldn't feature Cristiano Ronaldo's team properly, and they were forced to change Juve into "Piemonte Calcio".
What a farce this, and it's only the customers themselves who miss out.
Lord knows what other surprises EA and Konami have in store for their next batch of footy games. They're locked in an eternal battle for licenses, and that means both titles will have to make cuts or face serious legal action. Again, this creates a dilemma for gamers; if Juventus are your favourite team but FIFA is your preferred series, then you're out of luck.
This was the first major crack in years for FIFA's previously-watertight licensing. The days of viewing FIFA as the place to go for all the correct stadiums, kits, player likenesses and competitions are very much over. Piemonte Calcio felt like something from PES 2012, not FIFA 20, and it's only likely to get worse.
