Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Ending Explained: What EVERYONE Is Missing

5. The Zack Scene

Whilst anything with the main FF7 gang is always great, the big deal here is another scene with Zack Fair.

As a character who has to die for Cloud to take his identity and travel to Midgar, FFVIIR showing Zack alive after defeating Harbinger has been a constant talking point since April last year.

We now see him outside Aerith's church, wondering how to reintroduce himself to the lady herself, as the pair were an item before Zack left to fight for SOLDIER.

Everything outside the building looks like the same timeline - the idea being that somehow Zack's actions are happening alongside the party just outside of Kalm.

However, I posit that whilst this is a new timeline (the original forever happening on the side, hence all the flashes to future events during the final Harbinger battle), I don't think Zack is alive anymore.

Zack as presented here is a ghost; a wandering spirit on his way back to the church to find Aerith, and I can prove it.
