Final Fantasy VII: 3 Reasons Why We Definitely Don't Need a Reboot

1. It Will Take Too Long, And There's Not Much Time Left

Even though Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has stated that the Compilation could remain an active franchise until the twentieth anniversary of Final Fantasy VII's release in 2017, the production team has not done any new work for the past 4 years. Also, Square recently stated that there wouldn't be any work on another FFVII title until there was a game in the Final Fantasy series that surpassed the sales and reception of VII. Since that hasn't come close to happening with the release of more than 7 games and numerous sequels and expansions, it is highly unlikely that a reboot of the Compilation will ever occur. Another problem is clamor for an iOS port, as the first six games have now been ported to mobile. According to a recent article from IGN the game is over a GB, and the game in its entirety was actually over 3 gigs when released for PC. Because of the size limitation imposed on most iOS games, veteran Takashi Tokita stated that it will take a few years for a port to happen. Recalling back to what President Wada said, it is highly unlikely a port will happen either. As ever, comments are greatly appreciated, as well as arguments against the points raised in this article.
