Five Years Later: 10 Things You Learn Replaying Fallout 4

3. The Story Is Generally Excellent...

The Fallout games have always been known for their stories. In fact, one of the main reasons Fallout 76 failed was because its story was virtually non-existent, but thankfully Fallout 4 didn't fall down the same hole.

Fallout 4's campaign opens with our first extensive look at what life was like in America before the bombs dropped in 2077. From here the player and their family are forced into Vault 111 where their newborn son is stolen and their spouse murdered. Thus The Sole Survivor sets out looking to avenge them both.

Fallout 4's story poses some interesting questions to players, especially those surrounding artificial intelligence and where it fits into society in the future. Players can opt to join a variety of factions which appeal to all sides of the moral spectrum, however none of them are perfect and players are forced to learn the true consequences of many of the factions' aims as the story progresses.

Furthermore, Fallout 4's story contains some of the more bizarre missions of the series, such as going on a tour through the memories of a deadly assassin. These missions add variety and prevent the game from ever getting too repetitive.

So yes, Fallout 4's story is generally very good. Unfortunately...
