2. David Bentley (England)
Position: M/AMR Age: 28 Former Club: Tottenham Hotspur Former Blackburn and Spurs midfielder Bentley is one of the most notorious stories of failure in Premier League history - along with the likes of Stephen Ireland, Bentley showed a good deal of promise at a young age and subsequently faded badly. Bentley might not have played a lot of football in the past two years, having spent loan periods at Rostov and Blackburn Rovers (in fact he hasn't played more than 20 league games since the season Spurs spent £15m on him) but his stats remain impressive. With 14s and 15s for traditional midfield attributes, Bentley is a solid squad addition for lower level Premier League squads, but he is perhaps hamstrung somewhat by the outrageous wage demands of more than £48k a week. If you can push him down, or need cover in a particularly rich team, he's a good option, but he'll still be around in the free agents list for a while if he doesn't drop his demands.
