Football Manager 2014: 5 Challenges Everyone Should Try

FM14_PC_2DPACK_WEB_UK Have you ever been watching your team and thought to yourself 'I could do better than this?' Well so have I. I think that is precisely why I have been in a long term relationship with the Football Manager series for as long as I can remember. In all relationships though, you will encounter some issues and this one is no different. At times we drift apart (I rage), only to be re-united in an inextricable passionate rendezvous (unprecedented success). Some times we deny the real issue (tactics) and this leads to us taking it out on each other (match engine). Gossiping (the press) can take it's toll on our relationship and can often lead to us considering a break (transfer). I don't know how many times I have to say "you're not listening to what i'm saying" (team-talk) but apparently communication is key, even though it's something I'm reluctant to do because it has become so monotonous (press conferences). Sometimes we even blame each other (injury crisis) when actually it was our own fault (very high training intensity). One mistake I won't be making again is bringing up an ex (FM 2011), you will not hear the end of it (mysterious losing streak). There were even some accusations of cheating (declaring interest in another club) but that was just insecurities and we made up (grovelling apology to board). All in all though the past 13 years have yielded great promise (bursting trophy cabinet) and I can only hope for more of the same. So as you have probably gathered I don't get out much but then again why would you when you can play Football Manager. With news breaking last week of the new features FM 2014 promises to bring to us, I've sent my finest suit to the dry-cleaners to be freshened up in anticipation. It also got me to thinking about what I have achieved on this years FM and what I plan to do on FM 2014. We all have our own preferred route to establishing ourselves in immortal management folklore but I want to suggest 5 challenges that could help us all reserve our place in the footballing history books.
