Football Manager 2015: 10 Hardest Career Challenges You Must Tackle

7. Boavista

Objective: Promotion. Following relegation and financial struggles in the lower echelons of the Portuguese footballing pyramid, former giants Boavista have finally managed to drag themselves into their nation's second division once again, suggesting an imminent return to their former home of the Primeira Liga. After being relegated from the top flight as punishment for their part in the Apito Final match-fixing scandal, in which the club were accused of intimidating match officials, promotion wasn't forthcoming with Boavista continuing to struggle. Falling from grace in 2008, the club floundered both on and off the pitch, with another demotion to the third-tier in 2009 achieved amidst monetary difficulties. The short-term task is, of course, to return Boavista to the pinnacle of Portuguese footballing competition, but there is an interesting further challenge on offer too. Having played in the Champions League as recently as 2003, a nostalgia is present which fans of the club will be keen to be realised once again. Anyone willing to station themselves at the helm certainly has something to aim for in the long term, but building a structurally sound financial model might be the first item on the agenda in Porto should Boavista want to challenge the local giants in the foreseeable future.
