Football Manager 2016: 10 Ways To Make It More Realistic

8. Reduce The Amount Of Goals

We all love that rush of watching the little bar flash as your 60-goals a season Hungarian wonderkid nails a last minute winner for your teams after a nail-biting stalemate. On the other hand, we've all been livid after watching our teams crumble in injury time. But the buzz was slightly muted on FM15 because goals were so abundant. It doesn't matter how many new features SI add to the game, if 4-4 draws and 7-2 routs are commonplace, the entire realism of the game is called into question. There's also an unnatural amount of penalties throughout a season, with some teams even hitting double figures, something that simply doesn't happen. It also seems like in certain games, there is literally nothing managers can do to prevent a barrage of goals. If both teams were firing at each other with the overload tactic then maybe it is feasible that high scores will occur, but goal gluts still take place between counter-attacking and defensive teams, rendering the tactics system untrustworthy.
