It's about that time once more: relationships teeter on the verge of irreparable damage while obsessive football manager simulation fans dust off their tactics books for another year's slog of getting Gateshead to the Champions League.

Football Manager 2017 is almost upon us. It's so close now that Miles Jacobson and SI Games have just released a brand new announcement video teasing some of the major new additions and evolutions they've made to the game. You don't need to know that it looks slicker, more detailed and even more immersive than ever: that goes without saying.

What you need to know is the detail: the improvements and all new features that will shape how you guide your team; the short-cuts, the time-savers, the new keys to success. And that you can now play as Kosovo or in the Polish league.

So here goes - the biggest and best changes SI have just unveiled for Football Manager 2017 and Football Manager Touch 2017...

12. The Manager Customisation Improvements

Beards! Glasses! New colourful ties! It's all gloss, but it's all entirely welcome.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the management customisation screen is the ability to put your own face in there.

The reveal video showed that you can upload a picture and have it mapped onto your avatar for that real "I was there feel". And there are improved customisation options for outfits so you can really match your vibe.

And beyond aesthetics, reputations have been worked on to ensure that managers are more likely to be hired by teams on the same sort of level as them. So no Real Madrid job for you if you start off unemployed as a former Sunday League player.
