Football Manager 2018: 10 Challenging Teams You Must Consider Managing
9. Dundee United
Only one club in Britain has a 100% record in competitive fixtures against Barcelona. Manchester United? Nope. Liverpool? Not even close.
This particular team plays its football north of the border, but it isn't Rangers or Celtic. They aren't even in the Premiership these days, and by Scottish football's standards, they're a sleeping giant for FM18 players to awaken.
Dundee United, who famously knocked Barca out of European competitions in 1966 and 1987, were relegated from the top flight in 2016 and their first attempt to bounce back ended in a playoff defeat to Hamilton Academical.
Following the loss of star striker Simon Murray to Hibs, the Terrors have found life in the Scottish Championship tough, but FM18 fans will have some of the top players in the division at their disposal, including Billy King, James Keatings and Willo Flood.
Getting out of the Championship won't be easy with clubs like Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Falkirk able to compete with United on most fronts, but it's more than doable. The part of this challenge that really separates the men from the boys will come in the second season when they're back in the big time.
Competing with Celtic in any recent Football Manager title has been a big ask, even when taking charge of Rangers or Aberdeen, but restoring Dundee United to the level they were at in 1982–83, when they won the Premier Division for the first time in their history, is a mammoth undertaking.
