8. The New Animation Engine

One of the most heavily promoted new features ahead of FM22's release, was the promise of a revamped animation engine. And boy, does Sports Interactive deliver the goods on this front.

For those of you who like to take a 3D approach when watching your team play, it immediately grabs you how more fluid the game animation is this time out. In FM22, your players move more sharply, have a greater range of movement, and feel a lot more like, well, actual footballers.

On a purely visual level, there isn't anything particularly different in how the pitch, stadium and players look on FM22, but it's tough not to be swooning over your left inside forward twisting and turning his way past some poor sap on his way to bending one in the far corner.

When it comes to its actual matches, Football Manager has never felt as realistic as it does in FM22. Speaking of realistic, that nicely dovetails into...
