No one quite expected Fortnite: Battle Royale. Probably not even Epic Games. In fact, just last year, it seemed the battle royale genre had been completely taken over by the phenomenon that was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Now though, mere months on, Fortnite: Battle Royale is the game to beat.
With a more accessible playstyle, an interesting building mechanic and a player count that often dwarfs PUBG's, it seems like people just can't stop playing Epic's big surprise.
Thanks to Fortnite's recognisable gameplay, which distinguishes itself thanks to a unique building mechanic where you use gathered materials to create massive, hopefully impenetrable fortresses, several player types have developed over since that initial release. Due to the ridiculous number of players and the ease of finding games and jumping in, there's a great chance of meeting these almost stereotypical Fortnite players at this point.
Some are more recent developments, brought on by changes or additions to the game, whereas others use standard tactics that have been around since the game first exploded onto the scene. From bush-lovers to those who can conjure entire forts in seconds, Fortnite's player base is damn special.
