Fortnite: 6 Massive Changes In Season 3

5. Whirlpools And Sharks

Fortnite Ch 2 season 3
Epic Games

If you find yourself stuck out at sea with the storm quickly closing in, fear not - just seek out one of the new whirlpools dotted around the map. Like the volcano vents found in the later seasons of Chapter 1, if you dive into a whirlpool it will shoot you high up into the air, allowing you to redeploy your glider and quickly traverse large portions of the map. You can also use them to get the drop on enemies who have managed to build up to higher ground.

There's also another new option for speeding around on the water: sharks! These are unique in that they're part-vehicle, part-enemy and part-chest - they're initially found swimming around flooded locations, and if they spot you they'll jump out of the water to bite you and smash up your structures. You've got two options to deal with them - shoot and kill them to earn some high-level loot; or if you've got a fishing rod handy, cast your line at them to hook onto it and be pulled along on some snazzy waterskis. You get full control over the shark and can even fire your weapons whilst being towed along.
