Gears 5 Review: The Best One Yet?

Gears 5

After leaving fans wondering for years as to where the series was going we finally get a lot of questions answered, but just not the ones you think. The Coalition seems to use Kait as a means to explore the greater Gear lore with the 5th instalment. Which is sure to satisfy diehard fans and at least server up so creepy set pieces for newcomers.

As well as that, Gears 5 does a far better job of blending the old, with the new here, from the cast members, to the overall world, this game is the bridge the series needed and doesn’t feel like a Force Awakens style soft reboot. Marcus, Baird & Cole have fair better roles to play here and don't just feel like call back to games past. However, this game does create some of its own problems.

Without spoiling anything, the campaign gets a bit messy mid-way through and really does feel as if an Act is missing or was cut last minute. Certain decisions made by key characters don't feel as if they made sense, rushed or as if they were earned. Either way, this is totally a huge step up from 4 and is well worth the investment.
