When you finally take control of the hate-filled Kratos, you join him on a boat being ambushed by the multiple heads of the Hydra. You battle through the boat as heads erupt inside, finally encountering three at once on-deck.

It is here that the calling cards of giant baddie battles and violent fatalities were cemented into God of War history, as each Hydra head's demise is incredibly satisfactory and gory. The final head in particular feeling like an enormous victory, as the use of button mashing to yank the head through a nasty looking sharp mast gives the player a genuine sense of struggle, yet it's a formidable demise for such an inaugural duel.
