GTA 6: 10 Core Innovations It Needs To Stay Interesting

1. A Female Protagonist

Name a woman in the GTA universe, I challenge you. Chances are you've just thought of one of the many bikini-babes who adorn all the pre-release artwork and loading screens throughout the games, and it's because of this and many other reasons that GTA needs to factor in a female protagonist. Straight away there'll be those of you reading who disagree with this, and to those I point towards Saint's Row's female choice, which - voiced by Laura Bailey - is a fantastically funny, one-liner quipping badass with instant sex appeal. Obviously you don't need sex appeal in the physical sense whatsoever for the idea of a female GTA protagonist to work, instead such a quality comes from self-assuredness and the willingness to do whatever's necessary for the betterment of the character and those around her. An option might be to write someone along the lines of III/San Andreas' Catalina, albeit a friendlier version, yet retain her no-nonsense sensibility. In an effort to stay away from becoming stale and trotting out the same stories every half-decade, opening the next GTA from the point of view of a woman in this series would go a long way to cementing the notion that the franchise has somewhat 'grown up'. As was evident when Rockstar attempted to mature with the always-unsure Niko Bellic and the subsequent wave of criticism that befell the game because of it, perhaps the best way to ease longtime fans of masculine vehicular carnage to acclimatise would be to only occasionally switch to this new character. Whilst that is not the square kick in the rear-end the series deserves, it would at least be a stepping-stone towards a female-fronted caper in the future. So what do you guys think? Vehemently opposed, or perhaps in agreement? What else gets on your nerves about the series, or are you more than happy with VI being more of the same? Let us know in the comments!
