GTA 6: 7 Things You're Not Supposed To Know
6. GTA 6 'Early In Development', May Launch Smaller And Be Updated Over Time
Earlier this April, Kotaku published a fascinating article into the Crunch culture of Rockstar, and how they're allegedly taking steps to change this.
It comes after Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's last big project, was surrounded by a storm of controversy for the horrible hours its staff had to work to get the final product out of the door.
The report in question is highly credible, with Kotaku citing an email from Rockstar Executive Jennifer Kolbe which says:
“In these last several months we have undertaken a lot of work across every area of the company, looking at our processes to determine what works and what doesn’t, what we are great at and what we could improve. We hope that the majority of you have felt some of these positive changes already and those that haven’t soon will.”
Kotaku also talked with several Rockstar employees during the interview, and found that changes are already been made company wide, including to Grand Theft Auto 6.
According to Kotaku: "One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch."
They also state that the game is still 'early in development' so Kotaku, at least, believes a release date anytime soon to be unlikely. Someone else doesn't think it'll be quite so long though...
