GTA 6: 8 Current Gaming Trends Rockstar Must AVOID

3. Don't Add "Traditional" Battle Royale

Rockstar have already tried their hand at Battle Royale-adjacent modes twice - one in GTA Online as Motor Wars, and another in Red Dead Redemption 2 with Gun Rush.

Thankfully neither were the arbitrary "drop, find loot, zone shrinks, kill two people and win" setup we're seeing literally everyone else bolt onto their games for the sake of it (hey there, Battlefield V), but neither have been especially memorable, either.

Motor Wars can only handle 28 players, for example, and you play in teams, removing the "lone wolf" aspect of survival that often man makes BR so gripping in the first place. Vehicles and weapons are scattered about an open space, but it's missing any degree of tactility that plays into why the mode is so intense and replayable.

Red Dead 2's mode is better, upping the player count to 32 and giving you access to a stripped down array of weapons, alongside a map that promotes cover and camouflage, creating a "lightning round" version of traditional battle royale.

Still, neither are talked about in any remote "You NEED to play this" sense, and it's because they both feel like they're in the beta stage. Rockstar and GTA need their Battle Royale, and if GTA 6 launches without a confident foot forward, it'll be a major missed opportunity.
