GTA Online Heists: 10 Ways To Dominate Los Santos

10. Be Your Own Man (Or Woman)

Starting with the basics, Heist Mode is playable in one of two different ways. Either a player can set up, organise, and execute their own heists, or they can join in as the crew of someone else's. Joining in is a great way to get yourself started. It'll introduce you to the structure of how heists are put together, and reward you with a tidy paycheque and some solid experience at the end. Depending on your personal point of view though, it'll either prepare you for the challenges of the missions when you do them yourself, or spoil the surprises for you. Your goal should be to start launching your own heists as soon as you can though. You get to choose the plan, organise the approach, decide on the cut of the money, and pick whichever role you want in the mission itself. Usually the really fun one. To do this you'll need a fair sum of cash to buy a suitable apartment, as well as the mission buy-in (which is thankfully waived for your first outing) and any equipment you might need. The grind up to this financial position isn't a quick one, and you'll need to reach level 12 as well, but set it as a target for yourself early and stay focused.
