GTA Trilogy Remake: 10 Missions We Can't Wait To Play (& 10 We're DREADING)
5. Dreading: Freefall - GTA San Andreas
It's a rainy day in 200andsomething. A level designer at San Andreas ponders their next level on the game. "What about if we had CJ have to steal a plane in mid-air?" he asks aloud. Another designer says: "That's great! But what about if we make it a bit more difficult by making him drive the slowest plane ever?"
"Sold!" said the first designer, and Freefall was born.
Like so many others, this is a mission in Grand Theft Auto that sounds better than it actually is. The premise of having to bail out of a plane in mid-air to hijack a plane should be epic in every way.
Instead it's boring and very frustrating. The first frustration comes from the fact that CJ's plane is just so damn slow compared to the other one, meaning it take absolutely ages to actually catch up with it.
Several minutes later, you need to very precisely line up behind the plane where a corona is hovering in the sky. Just when you think you've got it right, chances are the big plane will move suddenly, and you'll have to line it all up again.
Thankfully they don't make you actually bail out and catch the other plane yourself (it's done by cutscene), otherwise this one would have been pretty much impossible.
