GTA V: 10 Movies That Inspired The Franchise

1. Scarface (1983)

Scarface Brian De Palma's infamous gangster flick, which chronicles the rise and fall of one Tony Montana (Al Pacino), a Cuban immigrant who comes to Miami and dreams of making millions, has earned its place as one of the greatest movies of all time. Violent, brutal and interchangeably joyous and horrific, Scarface is renowed for its memorable moments, be it "Say hello to my little friend!", the chainsaw bathroom scene, or its occasionally at odds (though still brilliant) '80s soundtrack. The Influence? Even a random person on the street will probably know that Scarface had a massive and undeniably obvious influence on an entire installment of the Grand Theft Auto series - it's impossible to miss, after all. Yes, Vice City kind of set out to be Scarface: The Game, and modelled itself on many of the locations, themes, characters, and iconic set-pieces from De Palma's movie. Before that, though, GTA III was taking soundtrack cuts from the movie and using them on its radio stations. Rockstar love this one, there's no doubt. Like this list?
