9. Been There, Done That

It's been a criticism of pretty much every GTA game since Vice City that the missions are often too samey, but then that's also par the course given how the game focuses on assassinations, gunfights, murder, robbery and double-crossings. Still, it is becoming increasingly challenging for Rockstar to come up with new missions that excite and thrill us. Who can forget the exhilarating bank heist from GTAIV? But if they pulled the same thing off again in GTAV, it would dilute the impact severely, and feel lazy given that the mission itself lifts liberally - and lovingly - from Michael Mann's masterful crime thriller Heat. However, it raises an interesting point; why not look more to Hollywood for inspiration when crafting set-pieces? We can glance over the last few years of action films and find countless unforgettable car chases; imagine how awesome a take on the vault-chase in Fast Five would look. Essentially anything that hews away from the norm of driving to location A, killing a guy, then driving to location B while evading the police is good. In fact, one of the most memorable missions in GTAIV was kidnapping a woman while she tries to steer your car off the road, because it made unique use of the game's engine, and was unlike anything we had played in a GTA game prior. Changing it up is always going to be welcome.
