10 Things That Almost Completely Changed GTA History
2. Hot Coffee
Definitely the most famous of the changes on this list, and one of the most controversial moments in video game history, thanks to the careless decision not to cover the tracks. Initially, GTA San Andreas was intended to include sex, breaking another taboo to go along with running over pedestrians, killing hookers and murdering police officers. CJ was able to date up to six girlfriends, and develop relationships, which could benefit the player with new items, and free trips to the hospital without losing weapons. And if you developed to a certain point, the girlfriend would invite CJ in for coffee at the end of a date. The original game then started a mini-game, in which the player controlled CJ in some clothed, and deeply unsexy intercourse with the girlfriend, but Rockstar ended up cutting it, because censors like sex less than they like violence, apparently. Naturally, modders got ahold of the code, which was unfeasibly left in the game by careless (or consciously provocative developers) and revealed exactly what Rockstar had intended, the filthy devils.
