GTA V: 10 Things We've Learned From The New Trailer

2. The Story Is More Personal

There's a lot to be said for the more "epic" plots of several of the GTA games; take Vice City and GTA IV, which depict the American Dream in different ways, with a character starting at the bottom and working his way up to essentially become the top dog. From the look of GTA V, however, the story appears to be far more personal, invested much more in the notion of family; we see Michael has a son who seems to get himself into trouble, and Franklin has who we assume is a wife, while little is known about Trevor's life yet (though we could believe that he doesn't have any family. The fact that GTA V has three protagonists gives Rockstar a lot more breathing room to make this story more about the people and their small measures of comfort rather than three people questing to become Kings of their worlds; while that might disappoint some players who want to senselessly shoot their way to the top, we've already experienced that. It's time for something different.
