5. Working Out
GTA San Andreas arguably paid more attention to its central character than any other title in the long-running series. Gamers could allow Carl Johnson to become fat by constantly eating out at Burger Shot, and even trim off the lard by hitting various gyms throughout the in-game map. Many argued at the time that having to maintain a protagonist's health and well-being by making sure he's been fed or retaining muscle mass by working out regularly was a chore, and felt too much like Tamagotchi. I however felt it was a touch of realism that improved gameplay and allowed for more replay value in that we'd nearly always have something to do. Which is why I was dismayed when I headed down to Vespucci beach in GTA V only to see the large, outdoor gym was inaccessible to the player and merely a part of the game's graphics. With the "Beach Bum" DLC coming out early this month, however, which is apparently going to be beach-themed, complete with new weapons and vehicles, could it be that Rockstar might pay a bit more attention to the Vespucci area by making the gym interactive? Even if working out just improves the already-existing stamina bar rather than physical appearance, we'd be pleased with its inclusion.
