GTA V: 5 Reasons Why Multiple Protagonists Is A Great Idea (And 3 Ways It Could Suck)

4. It Improves The Narrative

GTAwindow In past Grand Theft Auto titles we have only had one rather linear narrative to follow that ended in the dramatic conclusion of a singular character's story arch. Now we have three interlocking narratives to experience with three very different endings, or perhaps one, much larger ending. By throwing more protagonists into the mix, Rockstar are adding more drama to the narrative. In past titles, you might not have worried or cared all that much about the outcome of your character's story - for instance, you knew the protagonist wasn't going to die mid-story because then there'd be no dramatic final mission. With three protagonists however, anything could happen - one of Trevor, Franklin or Michael could very easily be killed off mid-story which makes the narrative that bit more unpredictable. Alternatively, the final mission and scenes in the game are bound to be epic ones as three storylines are brought to a conclusion all at once.
